Born 22 FEB 78 in Landstuhl, Rheinland-Pfalz, Federal Republic of Germany, at the 2nd United States Army General Hospital.
As the son of a warrant officer in the US Army I grew up bouncing around military posts until the fifth grade, when we ended up in Woodbridge, Virginia. The less said about that, the better.
I entered active duty on 8 MAR 99, as a United States Army Combat Engineer. I've been stationed in Germany and Texas, deployed to Kosovo and Iraq, and accumulated a salad bar that only looks impressive if you don't know what the ribbons mean. Haha.
I'm currently stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. 2nd Squad Leader, 2nd (Route Clearance) Platoon, 937th Engineer Company (Route Clearance), 8th Engineer Battalion.
There are precisely two things about me that are more important than soldiering. First, I am an Orthodox Christian. While this isn't the place to go into detail, I was raised a Southern Baptist but was disillusioned by a number of things about that outfit. As an amateur historian, I have always been fascinated by the Roman Empire (AKA Byzantine, damn Edward Gibbon) and I began looking into Orthodoxy while I was stationed in Texas. To make a long story short, it was on Holy Saturday of 2002 that I was baptised and christmated at Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Austin, TX.
Second, I am happily married to ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) soldiergrrrl.
Hobbies revolve primarily around science fiction and fantasy, as well as wargaming and roleplaying. Which is the same thing if you look at it that way.
This is not a haven for Free Speech. It is my little corner of the internet, and as such is subject to my whims. Comments which get posters banned without warnings include apologia for Islamic repression or terrorism, advocation of the armed overthrow of the United States government, insults directed at the United States or its Armed Forces, and personal insults against myself, my family, or my friends.
